Differential Effects of Parental Monitoring on Substance Use Among American Indian Adolescents

Abstract

American Indian (AI) adolescents are at increased risk of substance use. Parental monitoring affects adolescent substance use, but how other risk factors influence this relationship is unknown. Using SEM Trees, we found significant differences in this relationship across subgroups of AI youth thus identifying key moderators of this relationship.
