Abstract

We investigated perception of collaboration while using technology-mediated music playlists. We uncovered a mismatch in the intention of such online music services and the collaborative experience of users. Results suggest that technology imposes feelings of collaboration while prodding greater individualism in its design, thereby diminishing the true value of co-curation.
