Abstract

In the scanner, participants viewed sentences about people (targets) that resembled significant others (SOs) or controls, then saw the sentences again. A contrast among target, relevance of sentences to the SO, and past presentation was significant in LBA47. Further tests suggested deactivation when reviewing information inconsistent with an existing representation.
