Abstract

Students experiencing symptoms of mental illness may delay help-seeking due to fear of stigma. To decrease threat and increase empathy 17 participants underwent three sessions of exercise with a partner, before half completed cultivating compassion meditation. Implicit stigmatized beliefs were measured. Results indicate decreased stigmatized beliefs after both training types.
