Abstract
Men’s masculinity requires constant validation and threatening masculinity promotes inequality, sexism, and aggression. In two studies, we examined how gender-identity and gender-identity threat influences one’s self-image. We discuss how our findings advance the theory of precarious manhood and the ramifications for future research on the implications of gender-identity threat.
