Abstract

This study investigated the direct and indirect effects of parental openness in general conversations with their adolescents (N=661) on adolescents’ willingness to discuss sex with their romantic partners. Adolescents’ authenticity mediated relations between parental openness and conversations about sex with romantic partners. The indirect effects were stronger for male adolescents.
