Abstract

We compared consensus generated objective stress ratings to adolescents’ self-reported subjective ratings. Girls reported significantly higher subjective stress for interpersonal and school-based stressors compared to objective ratings. However, subjective and objective ratings did not differ for boys, suggesting that boys may be more accurate reporters of severity of stressful events.
