Stimulus Face Skin Tone Modulates Threat Attention Bias Associated with Skin Bleaching in Tanzania

Abstract

This study examined attentional biases for threatening dark and light-skinned faces in Tanzanian individuals who engage in skin bleaching. Individuals who skin bleached were significantly more likely to avoid threatening light-skinned faces than dark-skinned faces compared to individuals who have not skin bleached.
