Abstract

People often engage in excessive online gaming at the risk of harming real-life relationships. Thus, people with online gaming addiction may be resistant to the effects of social rejection (e.g., aggression). Across two studies, online gaming addiction moderated the effect of rejection on hostile cognition and, for males, aggressive behavior.
