History Alive: Using Colorized Historical Imagery to Impact Retention and Engagement

Abstract

Colorizing historical images produced higher retention (p = .014) and engagement rates (p = .0001) than original monochromatic images. Linguistic analysis indicted higher rates of negative words (p = .041) in the black and white image condition. Implications are discussed.
