Abstract

The effect of maternal perceived stress on convergent validity of maternal and observer ratings of infant temperament was assessed in 4-month-old infants. Maternal report was significantly related to observer-rated infant behavior. Maternal perceived stress did not affect this association. Stressed mothers may be valid assessors of their infant’s temperament.
