Deliberation without Attention: Subjective Weighting and Memory Representation of Options
- Brian Friel
Delaware State University
Abstract
Deliberation without attention (DWA) was investigated in a decision task. Participants were either given time to think about their choice before deciding or were distracted with an unrelated task before deciding. Distracted participants were more likely to choose the best option and had more accurate memory for option attributes.
