Challenges and Resources Underrepresented Students Face in Developing a Science Identity

Abstract
This study examines the challenges and resources ethnic minority students face in developing a science identity. Participants included 130 undergraduate students in a federally-funded research program. Challenges included peers, mentors, and feelings of imposter syndrome. Resources included peers, the undergraduate training program, mentors, and experience in research.
