Abstract

This study examined the effects of diabetes patients' cultural beliefs about the unfair treatment of people with diabetes (e.g. social exclusion) on distress and HbA1c, a biological measure of treatment adherence. As predicted, structural equation modeling revealed that those cultural beliefs influenced HbA1c through its effect on diabetes-related distress.
