Abstract

PTSD patients exhibit better memory for threat information attributed to an attentional bias toward negative information. We tested 390 individuals exposed to the World Trade Center terrorist attack, and found that magnitude of PTSD symptoms was related to attentional processing and subsequent recall of negative trauma-incongruent compared to neutral words.
