Abstract

This study investigated the relationship between gender stereotypes of females, false memories, and the plausibility of a female committing a crime. Male and female participants viewed either female stereotypical or non-stereotypical crimes and later recollected the event. Depending on the stereo-typicality of the crime, male witnesses systematically altered their memory.
