Abstract

We examined attachment, motives, and situational context as predictors of students’ reactions to hookups. Intimacy motives mediated the relationship between proximity-seeking and positive relationship reactions. Other hookup motives mediated links between insecure attachment orientations (frustration w/partner, ambivalence, jealousy, anxious-clinging) and worry-centered reactions. Implications for promoting healthy hookup behaviors discussed.
