Effect of Ratings on Trans Individuals As Function of Underdog Status

Abstract

The current study explores the way that people evaluate a trans person and trans rights globally in light of having (versus not having) underdog status. Results suggest that the portrayal of someone as an underdog impacts their subsequent evaluations of trans rights. We discuss potential implications for reducing transphobia.
