People Use More Vigor to Push Unattractive Faces Away and Pull Attractive Faces Towards Themselves

Abstract
We measured the vigor of approach-avoidance movements in response to face stimuli that varied in ethnicity, gender, and attraction. We found that participants apply more force to pull attractive faces towards themselves and to push unattractive faces away. The effect is twice as large for males than for female participants.
