Abstract

This study examines a developmental cascade of relationships among oppositional/conduct problems, anxiety/depressive symptoms, and verbal ability across ages three, five, and nine. Significant associations were found within and across domains over time. Oppositional/conduct problems at age 5 emerged as an important cross-domain risk factor associated with age 9 anxiety/depressive symptoms.
