Workplace Interactions: Perceptions of Leadership Styles and Gender in the Workplace

Abstract
Participants in this study read a vignette describing a male or female leader displaying one of five leadership styles, and then rated their desirability. Transformational, transactional, and participative leaders were more desirable than autocratic or laissez-faire leaders; this difference was not moderated by the leader’s gender.
