Abstract

In the two studies we measured firefighters responses to simulated (VR) rescue operation challenge. We found that physiological (HRV, heart rate contractility) and a few (but not all) self-reported indicators of effort supported our hypotheses of stronger engagement during a task challenge rather than mere presence in VR.
