Abstract

Terror management theory (TMT) was employed to test the effect of mortality salient (MS) and non-salient tobacco warning labels in a military environment. In line with TMT, commissioning participants showed more positive attitudes toward SLT in the MS-salient but not the non-salient conditions. Results have implications for tobacco cessation campaigns.
