Abstract

Research suggests that emotions serve as “stop” or “go” signals, validating or invalidating whatever thoughts and styles of thought are accessible. We find that these effects on attitudes and information processing styles occur primarily among individuals with an internal locus of control, helping to clarify how emotion influences thinking.
