Abstract

Individuals belong to multiple social categories. This work examines whether individuals are perceived in terms of one or multiple categories when only one category is made salient. We also examine how salience influences stereotyping processes: stereotype activation (the accessibility of stereotypes) and application (the extent to which stereotypes are applied).
