Abstract

The utility of suppression-based or acceptance-based emotion regulation techniques in athletic activity were examined. Participants were assigned to one regulation type and completed a free-throw task. Results indicated that the acceptance group showed a larger reduction in state anxiety but the suppression group was more successful in completing the task.
