Abstract

Very little is known about how cooperation develops. In a longitudinal study (N=200) we test how parents’ interaction style shapes infants’ cooperation understanding. Infants with directive parents at 10 months were less likely to understand cooperation at 12 months. A directive, leading parent interaction style hinders infants’ cooperation development.
