Shared Genetic and Environmental Effects on Social Support, Stress, and Depression in African American Twins

Abstract
The present study utilized a sample of African American adult twins to investigate etiological associations among types of social support (SS), stress and depression. Bivariate genetic models suggested overlapping additive genetic effects between instrumental SS and depressed mood, as well as instrumental SS and perceived stress.
