Abstract

Data representing two simulated respondent errors: idiosyncratic response scale interpretation and inability to discriminate between (dis)agreement options (imprecision), were analyzed with IRT. Under the PCM, disordered thresholds successfully detected respondent imprecision. PCM and GPCM results are less successful at detecting idiosyncratic response scale interpretation.
