Can Exposure to Muscularity-Idealizing Images Promote Self-Objectification in Adolescent Males?

Prior experimentation among adult males has shown minimal association between masculinity-idealizing images and self-objectification. In this experiment, adolescent males from diverse backgrounds viewed either control, muscularity-idealizing, or realistic male athletic images. Data indicated that exposure to both levels of muscularity resulted in significantly higher levels of self-objectifying responses.
