Abstract

The influence of family structure, ethnicity, and gender on substance use (alcohol, marijuana, tobacco) and deviant behavior was examined in a longitudinal study. Family structure had a significant effect on initial levels of every outcome and on change in tobacco use over time. Ethnic and gender differences are also discussed.
