Perceived Academic Competence Moderates the Relation between IQ and Anxiety

Abstract

In general, highly intelligent adolescents exhibit lower levels of anxiety than lower IQ youth samples. In a sample of 240 adolescents, the current study found a significant moderator effect such that among youth with higher IQs, those with lower perceived competence in the academic domain were significantly more anxious.
