Abstract

Detecting lies can be challenging during texting. Study 1 examined self-reported texting habits and attempts to be truthful vs. deceptive. Study 2 examined real-world live texting while being truthful vs. deceptive. Findings suggest that liars showed a delayed response and used less words, suggesting cues that can predict lying.
