Abstract

Two experiments revealed details reported with false recall impacts by both presentation modality and the concreteness of background information. That is, abstract context information was more likely to be reported with a critical word compared to concrete backgrounds. This study illustrates context manipulations can influence the frequency of illusory recollection.
