Abstract

Visuospatial working memory (VSWM) can hold more sequentially presented locations if those locations together form a symmetrical pattern. We show that a visual interference task reduces this symmetry effect more than a spatial task, suggesting that the benefit for symmetrical patterns involves visual more than spatial components of VSWM.
