Proactive Workplace Aggression in Teams: Test of a Rational and Moral Model

Abstract

Testing a new model of proactive workplace aggression yielded partial support. Relationships were tested between justifiability and just-world beliefs, and collectivism. Aggressive behaviors were less justifiable when specifically named (e.g., ostracizing), and males consistently rated aggression as more justifiable. Results guide theory and facilitate the management of workplace aggression.
