Abstract

This study examined the role of perceived identity compatibility and gender on psychological distress and perceived stress. Participants in male-dominated majors (MDM) completed a survey. Results suggest females, compared to males, experience less identity compatibility in MDM which, in turn, is related to higher adverse mental health outcomes.
