Abstract

We sought to empirically investigate cultural differences in emotion regulation strategy choice. As hypothesized, participants in India were significantly more likely to use reappraisal, a strategy focused on changing the meaning of emotional events. This difference was likely due to higher levels of religiosity which are meaning making systems.
