Abstract

Differences between men and women’s speech patterns is discussed in scientific and lay literatures. This study used smartphone technology to capture young adults’ spoken language over an entire day. Women used more sadness words; men used more swear and anger words. Men’s but not women’s language related to depressive symptoms.
