Childhood Adversity and Adult Somatic Symptoms: The Role of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

Abstract
Data from 483 college students were used to examine the relations between childhood adversity, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and a range of common somatic symptoms. The results of hierarchical regression analysis indicated an indirect pathway from childhood trauma to physical symptoms through PTSD symptoms, suggesting the mediating role of PTSD.
