Abstract

An intervention to reduce stereotype threat, anxiety, and cognitive load experienced by innocent-truthful or guilty-lying Latino-a mock-crime suspects was examined. Participant-observers made truth-lie judgments (Experiment 2) of suspect interviews, half of whom received the intervention (Experiment 1). While the intervention was not successful, cultural differences in deceptive behaviors were observed.
