Abstract

This study differentiates implicit beliefs about negative emotions from beliefs about momentary positive emotions and happiness. We examined how these beliefs predicted depressive symptoms, optimism, and life satisfaction. The three emotion belief scales were moderately correlated with each other, while uniquely predicting the various psychological outcomes.
