Abstract

Dishonest behavior requires effortful control. Paradoxically, ADHD is associated with effortful control deficits and dishonest behaviors. This study compares participants with and without ADHD in a task requiring cognitive investment and offering differential gain. Effortful control interacts with dishonest behavior, limiting cheating propensity among people with ADHD.
