Abstract
An author-developed measure was designed to explore preschoolers’ implicit social categorization behaviors while viewing pictures of faces characterized by three competing characteristics. Results indicate a tendency to categorize based on differences in facial expression (happy vs. sad), followed by skin color (Black vs. White), and finally sex (boy vs. girl).
