Abstract

This study examined how people’s sexist attitudes moderated effects of watching nonbinary television characters on beliefs about non-conforming behavior, gender-neutral language, and transphobia. Results show that watching television can reinforce the beliefs that the viewers have, and that attitudes people hold may moderate the impact of messages from those media.
