Abstract
This study investigated reading comprehension in 111 Chinese first graders, using a test which measured both reading accuracy and reading comprehension developed in this study. Poor comprehenders had weaker reading comprehension, reading accuracy, receptive vocabulary and word recognition than good comprehenders. Also, receptive vocabulary and word recognition predicted reading comprehension.
