Abstract

We examined Emotional Availability of adolescent mothers and their infants, predicting it would be significantly related to their feeding method. We found breastfeeding was significantly associated with higher scores on the Emotional Availability dimension of child responsiveness to adult. This effect remained after adjustment for maternal stress and negative mood.
