Abstract

This study investigated gender effects among females in administering altruistic punishment to transgressors in conditions eliciting vicarious emotions (embarrassment, sadness, neutral) during a Third Party Dictator Game. Participants assigned more punishment to male transgressors compared to female transgressors in the neutral condition, but not in the sadness and embarrassment conditions.
