Abstract

This study updates methodology used previously to investigate conscientiousness-general mental ability (GMA) interactive effects on performance, particularly by incorporating item response theory (IRT) scoring of personality and curvilinearity. Results support a curvilinear relationship between conscientiousness and task performance moderated by GMA such that conscientious may compensate for moderate GMA.
