Voice Perception Ability Is Linked to the Size of Speaker Identity Aftereffects

Abstract

There are remarkable individual differences in the ability to recognise individuals by their voice. We were interested whether this variability in skill can be linked to adaptive coding of voice identity. We found that aftereffect sizes for voice identity were related to voice perception ability but not general auditory skills.
